| It will probably need a pretty good revamp if the activity goes way up. i do prefer this over the mailing lists.

I've been lurking around looking and reading here for about 2 weeks now and haven't seen hardly any activity from the Killeen area chapter. Is it not active anymore? Am I just wasting my time?
Seems like everyone on here is from Katy, Houston or Southeast.
I know a quite a few guys that wheel FJ's and are looking for places to go and new people to hook up with/trade/and connect with, but it seems that this forum is more for Jeeps and Mudders.[/img]

I don't know how to get in contact with them, but there is a big group of FJ Cruisers from Houston that will be at BVORR Saturday around 10am. I'm sure they wouldn't mind you hooking up with them. You can contact BVORR's owner through this forum (SteveBVORR) or through his website www.brazosvalleyoffroadranch.com

That's a link to the Yahoo Group that the K/FH group IS using. Hope that helps.

Welcome Scott. There are/have been plenty of all types of rigs in TX4WD and do much more than muddin'. You being located towards central Texas should be able to find plenty places to do more rock/trail riding.
A good activity in the mean time is to connect with like minded folks and set up a Friday/Saturday night meet and greet. Do it some place like a family style restaurant or eating spot with lot's of visibility and traffic. You will be surprised the folks that will stop and check out what's going on. You will meet new recruits and friends for sure. Set up a regular time/place and be sure to include the families. Make plans for a wheeling trip somewhere and post it up here.....might get a few of us to come join you. Plan something that benefits something in your community maybe. Just some ideas.

Actually, I think there are probably more trail runners here than mudders. You apparently missed my avatar. Not much mud there. I will admit that just like on the trails, there are more Jeeps. I have never understood that but I am Jeep guy. Well, the body is Jeep anyway, the rest never ends up that way. If you looking for Brand recognition, you may want to try a specific group. i prefer to wheel with every type of 4x4 myself just becuase i meet more and learn more.
The best thing to do if you want to meet some of the guys is put a post up in the event section, just say your going to out to eat and would mind some company. Put a place up and time. We do that pretty regular over here. One time we had 30 people show up.
Welcome to the group.

I'll be there on Saturday about 10:30, I'm actually meeting a guy from another forum site, FJCCentral.com there. It'll be my first trip to BVORR and my first wheeling attempt in my FJ, take it easy on me will ya?
Hope to meet a lot of new and good people there, see ya in the morning

Not sure I'll make it out. I just wanted to let you know about it. If I do come out, it won't be for very long.
FYI, the B/CS Chapter of TX4WD will be meeting at BVORR at 8pm tomorrow night for a meeting/night run if you want to make a full day/night of it. I WILL be there for the meeting for sure.

People who were involved 12 years ago might care but someone who just went out and bought their first 4x4 rig and who's looking for a group of people to wheel with couldn't care less about Bert, TX4x4, the big handover, the 10 year old chat list or any of the other things that people tend to harp on around here. People who are buyng rigs now probably don't know or care about fighting against laws that have been on the books for 4 or 5 years now, most of these people just want a place where their family can feel welcomed, become involved and maybe even have a say so in how things are run. Do you think this is that kind of place? |
